On the 8th December 2016, the Chamber hosted its annual Christmas gathering. This year was slightly different as the event took the form of a gala dinner. The Club de Industriales was decked out with UK-themed decorations to receive our members and guest of honour, HMA Duncan Taylor and his wife, Marie Beatrice Taylor.

Guests were warmly welcomed with raffle tickets and drinks, and had a chance to catch up with fellow members about the past year. They then enjoyed a traditional four-course Christmas dinner, followed by speeches from Chamber President, Emilio Díaz, and HMA Duncan Taylor. Our President’s speech focused on the Chamber’s achievements in its 95th year, including marketing, membership growth, event activity and support to British businesses in the UK. The Ambassador addressed the dramatic events of 2016, focusing on Brexit and the U.S. election in particular. He stressed the opportunities that this new reality represents for the Mexico-UK bilateral relationship, as they must now look beyond their traditional trading partners to continue their growth. Both speakers thanked Teresa De Lay and her team for all their hard work over the year.

Teresa De Lay then revealed the results of the raffle, with two return flights to London, provided by Chamber Member British Airways, being the most sought after prize. The event then closed with a disco of classic British pop music, with members dancing into the early hours.
